Meet Our Champions
The 'Just One More' Project is built on the belief that meaningful change happens when people come together with a shared purpose. Our Champions are individuals who believe in the mission and have chosen to stand alongside us as advocates, supporters and ambassadors. Each Champion brings their own experiences, expertise and voice, helping us reach new audiences and encouraging more open conversations around invisible mental, emotional and physical struggles.
Some of our Champions will share their own stories, while others will support the project through interviews, events, fundraising or simply by helping us spread the message. Together, they demonstrate that no one has to face life's challenges alone, and that sometimes all it takes is just one more conversation, one more act of kindness, or one more step forward to make a real difference.
To learn more about our Champions, hear their stories and follow their involvement with the project, visit our YouTube channel where we'll be sharing interviews, conversations and exclusive behind-the-scenes content as the project grows.
Laura Webber - Founder
Laura founded the 'Just One More' Project after experiencing first-hand the challenges of living with both physical and mental health conditions. Having discovered the positive impact that endurance sport had on her own wellbeing, she began using fundraising events as a way to challenge herself while supporting causes close to her heart.
Her journey started in 2014 with a single 5km race, and has steadily grown into marathons, ultramarathons, duathlons and other endurance adventures. Raising money for mental health charities and support groups, her event schedule included the Hope36 100-mile endurance event and a 30mile solo kayak challenge, proving that extraordinary achievements begin with ordinary first steps.
Today, Laura's focus is on using endurance sport to educate, inspire and encourage conversations around mental health through the Just One More Project. Her next major challenge is the Marathon des Sables Ultra, a self-sufficient, no-stop 100-mile race across the Sahara desert, with ambitions to go even further by taking on the World Marathon Challenge (7 marathons, 7 continents, 7 days) in the year ahead.
For Laura, the finish line has never been the real goal. Every challenge is an opportunity to show that whatever your own battle may be, progress is made by taking just one more step.
Chris Piper - Chaos to Control Founder

Cornish born and bred Chris Piper, is the founder of Chaos to Control and one of the 'Just One More' Project's Mental Health Champions.
Having overcome addiction and navigating life following a diagnosis of combined-type ADHD, while awaiting assessment for autism, Chris openly shares his lived experience to help others realise they are not alone. Through honesty, humour and genuine compassion, he encourages conversations around mental health, recovery and resilience, showing that your past does not have to define your future.
Chris's mission closely aligns with the 'Just One More' Project's aim of making invisible struggles more visible, helping people better understand the challenges that so many face behind closed doors. Here's what he wants to say:
"Geddon, I’m Chris Piper—the bloke behind Chaos to Control.
I was diagnosed with combined-type ADHD shortly before beginning recovery, but I didn’t really understand what it meant at the time—I was too busy living in active addiction to alcohol and drugs. I’m also currently awaiting an autism assessment, so I’m gradually working out why my brain has more departments than Trago, and none of them seem to communicate! 🤣
I finally stopped drinking on 1 January 2026 and started sharing the honest reality of recovery online.
What began as me attempting to sort my own life out—some job that turned out to be—grew into organising a men’s mental health fundraiser and creating Chaos to Control.
The aim is simple: use my lived experience to help people feel less alone, get communities talking and prove that your past doesn’t have to decide your future.
I’m proud to support JustOneMoreProjectUK because sometimes one more day or one honest conversation can change everything.
Proper job. Cheers n gone!"
Patrick 'Paddy' McClintock - Check in on a Mate

Paddy McClintock joins the ‘Just One More’ Project as a Champion, bringing with him first-hand experience of the relationship between extreme endurance, mental resilience and the battles that can take place inside our own heads.
Paddy is the founder of Check In With A Mate, an initiative encouraging people to have the conversations that matter and to look out for those around them. His connection with mental health extends into both his endurance challenges and his academic background: while at medical school, Paddy completed his dissertation exploring the relationship between ultra-endurance athletes and mental health.
His own endurance experience includes completing a 650 km run over two weeks. Paddy describes the psychological challenge of that journey as harder than the physical one. When the scale of what remained became overwhelming, his approach was to break it down into smaller, manageable steps and concentrate only on what needed to happen next.
Paddy brings another voice and another perspective to that conversation..
His experience will also contribute practically as the project's endurance challenges develop, sharing lessons learned from his own events and exploring future opportunities around research and collaboration.
Paddy's ‘Just One More’:
When the whole distance feels impossible, don't carry the whole distance. Deal with what comes next.
Colin Beetle - Lead Support Crew

Meet Colin, the Desert Scarab Beetle! Colin may be the smallest member of the JOMP Champion team, but he has a surprisingly important job.
He began life during a late-night bout of overthinking about the Marathon des Sables Ultra. Laura will travel to Morocco alone and take on 100 miles through the Sahara without friends, family or a personal support crew alongside her. Having experienced the psychological lows that can arrive during the latter stages of an ultra-endurance challenge, one question kept coming back: what happens when things get really difficult and the people you would normally turn to simply aren’t there?
Somehow, that thought led to scarab beetles.
Despite several trips to Egypt and Morocco, Laura has never seen one, so she decided she would spend 100 miles looking for one. The imaginary beetle was christened Colin, and the ridiculous little mission gave her something positive and funny to focus on when the prospect of being alone in the desert began to feel considerably less funny.
Then Colin became real.
Plush Colin will travel with Laura as her unofficial support crew, from long training adventures and marathons through to the Sahara itself. Inside him, the plan is to carry recorded messages from family, friends, JOMP Champions and supporters – voices from home that Laura can listen to when exhaustion, isolation or self-doubt begin to take over.
It might look like a black beetle wearing a tiny superhero cape, but there is a serious idea behind him.
Colin turns something psychological and difficult to explain into something people can actually see. He represents connection when somebody feels alone, humour when things feel dark, and the importance of finding whatever helps you take the next step when continuing feels difficult.
And because the ‘Just One More’ Project is about far more than Laura completing races, Colin has another job too. His journey will help us explore the practical strategies people use to cope with difficult moments – whether that is hearing a familiar voice, carrying something comforting, finding humour, remembering somebody is behind you, or simply focusing on one more step rather than everything still ahead.
So Colin isn't just a mascot.
He is a JOMP Champion, Laura's support crew and, apparently, an increasingly important member of the team.
He'll be joining Laura on selected training adventures and challenges as the journey towards the Marathon des Sables continues.
And if the pair of them make it across that 100-mile finish line together?
Laura has already promised him the medal.
Welcome to the team, Colin. 🪲🏅
